Data You Submit
Information typed into a search form, such as a name, phone number, or address, is sent to the third-party service that supplies the results. Walnut Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the contents of the message and use them to respond or address the request.
Automatic Technical Data
Our hosting provider may retain ordinary server logs, including IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. Aggregate information helps identify broken pages, measure traffic, and maintain the service. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement. The site does not need an account to provide its reference pages.
How Information Is Used
Collected technical information is used to operate the pages, troubleshoot errors, count visits, and improve the reference. We do not sell a visitor list or build a personal profile about an individual reader. A message is used for the purpose for which it was sent, such as answering a contact request.
Outside Links and Search Tools
The directory links to Los Angeles County offices, Walnut departments, California agencies, libraries, archives, and third-party search tools. Those destinations control the information submitted to them under their own privacy notices. This includes sponsored results and any service reached through a search widget. Review the destination's policy before entering personal information.
Who Receives Technical Data
Hosting and support vendors may process the server-log information needed to run the service. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it. It is not disclosed for unrelated purposes.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the operational purposes that require them. There are no user accounts, passwords, or personal profiles maintained by this reference. No security measure can promise absolute protection, so avoid sending more personal information than a contact request needs.
Readers Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor supplied information, contact us with enough detail to locate the message, and we will review and delete it when appropriate.
California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, is codified in Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections. Depending on the circumstances, a California resident may have rights to know or access personal information, request deletion or correction, limit certain sensitive-information uses, opt out of sale or sharing, and avoid discrimination for exercising a right. Exceptions can require a business to retain information.
Because this reference keeps very little, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and relevant server logs, then removing information that can be identified and lawfully removed. Use the Contact page for a request. Requests to a California or Los Angeles County agency for public records follow the California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 and following. Public deeds, court files, voter records, vital records, and city files held by those offices are outside our control; ask the custodian about those records instead. The state's Safe at Home FAQ explains a separate confidential-address program.
California's DROP platform can send a verified deletion request to registered data brokers. That broker process does not rewrite an official Walnut or county source record.
Changes to This Policy
